A lot of great posts and discussion points in here! I wanted to give some new user feedback while it is fresh. Super easy sign up process, use of kittens is brilliant, "Front Page" is engaging, and very clear on how to endorse or deny a post. As a new user my first inclination was to look at what groups currently exists and find ones I identify with. I thought the link showing the existing blocs could be more prominent on the Front Page. I also found that I was hesitant to join a group without reading everything the group had endorsed, which can be time consuming if it has many posts, so I wondered if there was a summary/short description of each group's endorsements/col
OK, feedback for Michael.
- Don't force these little boxes to scroll just to achieve consistent rows - it isn't worth the annoyance to the user
- Instead try something like isotope.js - http://isotope.m
In this new era of ubiquitous surveillance, we're considering simplifying the Blocvox sign-up/login page by removing that pesky password requirement.
Super major props from us in the blocvox-troopers to the good folks of the >soundcrowd for being the first new bloc of the re-launch!! *collective high-five!*
I kept getting an error message and the page would crash when the reference page tried to load here, and a bunch of wingdings were in the summary area. Using Chrome...
I really like the look and feel, but I think the Propose Vox button should be on the homepage or the landing page of the group Vox. I had to search around and finally saw it under the PROPOSALS AND >MENTIONS link. Great work though :)
A new front page... Lookin' Good!
We love this new feature! It will heighten the political discourse and accountability throughout the land for decades to come! (This is an example of a "Reply" post, which encourages and supports long-lasting topical discussions between groups--all driven by democratic processes.)
The new web page attachment feature allows us to show a summary of a webpage along with the vox, whenever we include a URL in the vox. The current implementation is rough, but it works. To attach a web page summary, simply include a URL in your vox... as you're typing, the site should detect the URL, and if it is able to create a summary, it will display the summary details next to the vox text box, where you can write comments about the referenced webpage. For example: No parliament means no representation. Looks like Egypt may be headed for a dictatorship.
There's a new Photo upload feature, for those times when words won't suffice. Speaking of which, check out the trendy logo!
Is it in the works to have a profile type section where one can see all their own "voxes?" Similar to how twitter has it. Just curious... might be a nice idea to see a compilation of all the voxes you wrote.
We are noticing the improvements to the site. Once "reply" and "comment (12)" are unlocked, all hell is going to break loose. In a good way.
Is there a way to edit a bloc name? The person (or thing) that made the "officialchicken-tenderbloc" probably feels like an idiot for messing up the formatting of the name.
Voting a post up or down is one of the key components of blocvox yet most posts have only one or two votes. It’s a test environmentalists; let’s test it. Vote up or down but vote.
We should try to use "we" in our voxes and when creating blocs make sure the title used represents a group. So maybe "gossip girl fans" or "environmentalistsal activists". (Note: bloc names do not currently support spaces.)
blocvox encourages participation in the social construction of our world...it's problems, it's solutions, it's outlook on the future.
Tentatively making my way around blocvox. Will run this test up the ol' flagpole to see who salutes.
We love this site!!!!!!!!
Wonderful user interface design so far!
